Wrongful Death Suit Settled in South Carolina
A settlement has been reached in a wrongful death lawsuit in South Carolina over the fatal shooting of a woman by her husband in 2008. The suit, filed by the woman's three children, claimed that deputies were negligent in protecting the woman from her husband, who had been issued a domestic violence protective order days before the shooting. The deputies, the suit said, failed to adequately protect the woman as she returned to her home to collect some belongings. Kanawha County settled the suit for $812,500.
